The terms for using this site

Giddyupp Grain Brokers Inc. runs this site from Spruce Grove, Alberta. Using it means you agree to what’s on this page.

What we are

We’re a broker. We introduce sellers to buyers, help the two of you settle the terms, write them down, and invoice our fee. Almost always we invoice the buyer; if a buyer won’t pay brokerage, we invoice you instead. We never buy or sell grain ourselves, we never take title to it, and no grain money passes through our hands: the buyer pays you directly.

What a price on this site is

A price here is what a buyer has told us they’ll pay, worked back to your yard net to you, with the trucking and our fee already off, as of the time shown. It isn’t an offer to buy from us and it isn’t a promise. Bids move and bids expire, and what you’re paid is set by the contract you sign with the buyer. What still comes off at settlement is in the fine print.

How a deal is made

A trade is between you and the buyer. We’re not a party to it. The two of you agree on the grain, the specs, the tonnage, the movement window and the price before anything is booked, and we put that in writing. The buyer’s contract or our broker note is the record.

What we don’t guarantee

We choose buyers carefully and we tell you what we know about them, including whether they’re licensed and bonded with the Canadian Grain Commission. But we don’t guarantee that a buyer pays, and we can’t cover a buyer who doesn’t. If a buyer is late, you’ll hear it from us first and we’ll tell you where you stand.

Your account

You sign in with a link we email you. Keep it to yourself: anyone holding it is you as far as the site can tell. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account. We may close an account that’s used to mislead us or another person on the site.

Using the site

Post grain you have and can deliver. Give specs you believe are true, and say what you haven’t tested. Don’t copy the prices or offers here to publish them elsewhere, and don’t point tools at the site to scrape it. Don’t use what you learn here to go around an introduction we made.

What’s ours and what’s yours

The pages, the price tables and the writing here are ours. Your information stays yours, and how we handle it has its own page.

When something here is wrong

We work to keep the prices and the pages right, and when we get something wrong we say so and fix it. Even so, we can’t promise the site is free of mistakes or always up, and we’re not liable for a decision made from a number on this site rather than from a signed contract. Nothing here limits what the law won’t let us limit.

The rest
